Place & Belonging on Satulah Mountain with Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust

Thursday, October 1, 2026 (4:30 PM - 7:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

Join yoga practitioner and somatic therapist Ashlyn Miller for an evening slowdown, connecting with yourself, others, and nature to cultivate a felt sense of belonging. Our time together will include a slow sensory walk, somatic inquiry, gentle yoga and meditation, nature journaling, and story.

A sense of belonging is a basic need we have as human beings, and while it may be inherent on some level, it demands participation to be truly felt. And place/land is a gentle, intuitive entry point as humans have lived in relationship with land since the dawn of humanity.

“You can learn to belong anywhere…if you choose. It’s an act of creation, and like all acts of creation, it’s also an act of love.” -Sharon Blackie

We will move at a slow pace and hike approximately 1.2 miles roundtrip. The trail has approximately 200 feet in elevation change each way and includes uneven surfaces including rocks and roots. This hike is considered moderate.
