JOB TITLE: Psychology Intern

STATUS: Non-Exempt

LOCATION: 558 Frank Allen Rd

                     Cashiers, NC 28717

REPORTS TO: Health & Wellness Director

EXPECTED SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 2:30-6pm

                                           Up to 17 hours/week

SUMMARY: Supervise, lead, teach, and explore with youth Club members (5-18yo) in activities and special programming including Triple Play (sports and fitness programs), Power Hour (homework help and tutoring), Smart Moves/Healthy Habits (health and wellness programs), Outdoor Recreation, Visual and Performing Arts, and other group games and activities.

KEY FUNCTIONS:  

• Always ensure physical and emotional safety of members
• Provide guidance and positive role modeling to youth.
• Encourage program participation in fun, enriching environment.
• Participate in training and development opportunities.
• Monitor behavior and implement discipline policy for members, as necessary.
• Assist in leading programs including sports activities, adventure programming, homework and tutoring help, gardening, visual and performing arts, health and wellness programs, and other duties as assigned.
• May help to facilitate surveys of club members, parents, and community members.
• May help to collect, process, and analyze data.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in special programs and/or events.
• Set up and strike daily programming equipment and help maintain cleanliness of building.
• Daily problem solving, critical thinking, and ability to adapt.
• Assist in other projects as assigned.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 

• Experience in working with children strongly preferred.
• Desire to motivate and provide enriching environment for youth.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus
• CPR and First Aid Certifications strongly desired

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be in moderate physical shape (able to stand for extended periods of time, walk, and occasionally run without tiring), may be required to lift up to 55 lbs.
