The Village Green is a 13 acre privately conserved park for public enjoyment.  The Village Green is a non-profit organization that preserves and enhances the land for civic, spiritual, academic, recreational, and cultural activities to maintain the quality of life for residents and visitors to the greater Cashiers area.


Position: Community Event & Volunteer Coordinator


Description: The Village Green seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with community events. This position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of hospitality and event planning while working for a well-known community-based nonprofit organization.


Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Community Event and Volunteer Coordinator will organize and assist with various projects assigned.

Primary responsibilities include:


Coordinating the following events:

  • Groovin’ On the Green summer concert series
  • Village Nature Series, summer monthly educational program
  • Biennial Fundraiser - Joy Garden Tour or Cashiers Plein Air Festival
  • Fourth of July Celebration
  • Cashiers Valley Leaf Festival, fall artisan show
  • Gobble on The Green (Thanksgiving Day 5-K)
  • Annual Holiday Events (to include but not limited to)
  • Easter
  • Christmas Tree Lighting (Day after Thanksgiving)
  • Coordination of events includes
  • Event planning, marketing, promotion, and on-site execution including set up and tear down
  • Schedule artists and speakers
  • Obtain necessary permits
  • Attend Event Committee meetings as needed 
  • Maintain up-to-date event documents including site-schedule forms and action plans
  • Procure and organize supplies for events as needed
  • Volunteer Coordination
  • Maintaining volunteer database to include:
  • Scheduling volunteers
  • Communicating with volunteers

Qualifications:

Previous experience in event planning is required.

Previous experience in hospitality, communications, and public relations is a plus.

Must be computer literate (working knowledge of GSuite, word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, Canva, WordPress, and social media platforms).

Professional demeanor and outstanding communication skills.

Ability to communicate professionally with press and community contacts.

Self-motivated, good organizational and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Enthusiasm for the mission of The Village Green and the community we serve.

                  

Hours: Full-Time (Combined Remote and In-Person)


Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000; 100% paid health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield
